What are Termites?

Termites mostly feed on any form of wood leaf litter or soil. Termites live in colonies that, at maturity, number from several hundres to several million individuals.

The first visible signs of termites may be a swarm that usually appears in the spring. Worker termites are active 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, looking for new food sources (wood) and gathering food to nourish the rest of the termite colony which includes the queens, soldiers, reproducers and the young.

For clues to help distinguish termites from ants, you must examine the insects' wings, waist and antennae. Termites have wings which are relatively equal in size. A termite's waist is thick and distinct and the antennas are straight with no bends.

Termites cause millions of dollars in damage to structures each year. No structure, not even brick or concrete slab construction, is immune to their insidious appetite.

Treatment of Termites

All Termite service treatments are performed according to strict label and state guidelines. We prefer a continuous barrier of termiticide over the "baiting system" as our means of eradication. We feel the newer non-repellants are much, much more effective.
